The ‘Adria Tour’ was an exhibition started by Serbian star Novak Djokovic. While many people enjoyed watching the event, it had some unintended consequences. Many players including Novak himself tested positive for the coronavirus that is spreading all over the world. The ATP Chairman has just commented on this. Check out what he said.

ATP Chairman On the Recent Cases

In a recent interview with the New York Times. The Chairman talked about the tennis players getting infected with the coronavirus. He said that he feels sorry for the players and wants them to recover soon. And he also talked about the criticism players are facing as they did not follow protocols. He said,

“I know there has been a lot of criticism, but on the other hand, we at the ATP, the U.S.T.A., and everybody, we have to be careful because we also have to be conscious that even with extreme measures, you could actually end up having some players testing positive.”

He also talked about how players will be even more careful now as others have tested positive for the virus and an example was also used to show this. He said,

“It’s a little bit like when you tell your kids when they try to learn to ride the bike to wear the helmet, it’s ‘no, no, no’. And they ride the bike, they fall, and then they wear the helmet. Now we all know we can get this very easily, so we’re going to be even more careful, and maybe we will have a little bit more tolerance toward the bubble.”

After many players testing positive, the ATP is surely going to increase the safety measures at the various events. But hopefully, it will not lead to the cancelation which is was what some players were worried about.

Above all, everyone will be hoping that the players infected will recover very soon so that they can play the ATP Tour when it returns in August. And hopefully, that is exactly what happens.
