Daniil Medvedev vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina: Preview
Medvedev came into 2024 ranked third after having a fantastic run in 2023. He began 2024 strongly with the Australian Open and reached the final, albeit it was hardly a stroll. He played in three five-setter matches, sealing a comeback twice. He lost in the final to Jannik Sinner, but the tournament boosted him further.
In Dubai, Meddy comes on as a defending champion and beats his first two opponents in a great display of tennis. Now, he will play Fokina, hoping to reach the final to defend his title.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina also began the year at the Australian Open. While he won his first round in straight sets, he couldn’t continue his stint. He had better results in the Open 13, where he managed to win his first two matches, before being ousted by Humbert in round three. He also played in Rotterdam and Qatar but found himself eliminated in the first round of both tournaments.

The Russian and Spanish players have battled each other three times on the ATP Tour. The first clash between them was held at the 2021 Madrid Open, where Fokina would take the lead in the first set. However, Meddy would manage to shut him down in three sets for the final score 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. The former number 1 would also win their second clash in the 2023 ATP Rotterdam in three sets. 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 would be the final score of their match.
