The Nitto ATP 2023 Tournament brought fans to witness some marvelous performances in tennis. From Danii Medvedev to Novak Djokovic, all the tennis stars represented their best on the court. While Italy’s own Jannik Sinner bagged the trophy of the tournament, Danii Medvedev offered something interesting about the performances of all of them including Sinner.

Now Brad Gilbert to Andy Roddick, everybody praised Djokovic’s performance despite his loss. In this context, Medvedev’s comment was quite surprising to the fans. Now Medvedev can’t be blamed since everybody truly did their best in the tournament. Want to know what he actually said?

Medvedev draws Djokovic, Alcaraz, Sinner, Rune and himself in the same position

The Nitto ATP Finals 2023 was incredibly great as fans witnessed some historic moments during the tournament. Now that the finals are over, social media is flooded with snippets from the players and matches. In this context, Medvedev’s statement came to fans as quite surprising. According to Danii Medvedev, He, Rune, Alcaraz, Sinner and Djokovic performed almost the same on the court of the ATP Finals 2023.

Although he separated others from stalwarts like Ben Shelton, and Arthur Fils, even Djokovic couldn’t stand higher than him. Medvedev said- “ I think because they’re at the top, there is not much difference between me, even Novak, & them. The difference is that Novak has won 24 Grand Slams. When they play one on one, as we saw, he can lose. So there is not much different.”

However, Medvedev points out one difference when he speaks about starting the game slowly whereas others did a great job at 19. But he liked the fact that he had a slow but poised start in tennis.

Fans do not agree with Medvedev’s recent comment

Although Danii Medvedev truly has a big motivation while he positions himself with Sinner, Djokovic, Rune, and Alcaraz, his fans are not at all supportive of that. In fact, people think that such comments represent Medvedev as a clown- “A clown  with a very big mouth.” Tennis fans commented about how his remarks express that Medvedev is clueless about tennis.

Nobody supported Danii when he spoke about his equal skill with Djokovic- “I’m sorry Daniil but that’s a reach.” People didn’t like Djokovic being compared to Medvedev at all.

In a nutshell, Medvedev’s comment seemed quite weird to many tennis fans as they opposed Djokovic’s comparison with newcomer players.
