Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz is making rapid strides in his tennis career. The 19-year-old recently clinched his first Grand Slam title. Playing against Casper Ruud in the final of the US Open 2022, Alcaraz won the match, dropping only one set. With this, the young tennis star has made it to the pinnacle of the ATP rankings and becomes the youngest tennis player ever to become the world number 1.

Another man who made it to the top of ranking charts in his sport at a very young age was Tiger Woods. The legendary American golfer also broke many records early in his career. Here’s a comparison between Alcaraz and the youngest number 1 in golf.

Tiger Woods is one of the greatest golfers of all time. The American, just like Alcaraz, didn’t take much longer to show his prowess.

The American rose quickly in the ranking charts and attained the top spot at an age of 21 years, five months, and 15 days. In women’s golf, Lydia Ko from New Zealand was even younger as she attained the top spot at an age of 17 years, 9 months, and 9 days.

Carlos Alcaraz is having a brilliant year. Earlier this year, he registered victories against the likes of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. After winning back-to-back titles in the Barcelona Open and Madrid Open, he entered the French Open as one of the title contenders. However, the youngster could not go past Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinal.

Keeping his good form intact, Alcaraz also made it to the fourth round of Wimbledon. He lost to Jannik Sinner and failed to qualify for the quarterfinal. The two met again in the US Open quarterfinal and this time, he defeated the Italian tennis star. Alcaraz defeated Frances Tiafoe and Casper Ruud en route to his first Grand Slam title. As he attains the top ATP rank, the Spaniard is in no mood to slow down. Speaking after his title win, Alcaraz said he wants to be the top-ranked player for years to come.
