Nelly Korda Bandwagon Makes Way to Tennis Fraternity as Legend Jimmy Connors and Son Go Gaga Over Her Dominant Swing

Nelly Korda has taken the LPGA Tour by storm, winning five titles, including a major triumph, in a row. As she has pulled off a phenomenal feat, the American pro golfer has earned the laudits of many, not just in golf but in the tennis community as well. Even the Hall of Famer Jimmy Connors and his son were recently singing the praises of Korda as they hailed her ‘mesmerizing’ performances.
In the latest episode of the Advantage Connors podcast show, the 8-time singles Grand Slam champion couldn’t hold himself back from lauding Nelly Korda, who is currently the most talked about person in the US. During a conversation with his son, Jimmy Connors was heard saying, “I mean, how could you not talk about the success that she’s (Nelly Korda) having now?” Reacting to it, Brett said, “She’s ridiculous.”

The American former world No. 1 player, who also likes to play golf, went on to talk about Korda’s swings during her recent performances on the LPGA Tour. He said, “But her swing? Yeah, yeah. I mean, you came up with that and said, You got to watch her swaying. I mean, and it’s mesmerizing. It’s so simple. So simple.”

The former tennis ace and his son are evidently blown away by Korda’s dominance this week on the LPGA Tour. After joining the likes of Nancy Lopez (1978) and Annika Sorenstam (2004-5) with her five consecutive wins, the American golfer now has a great opportunity to clinch a historic sixth-straight victory. However, Korda has some other plans, as she recently announced her decision to pull out of the next event on the tour.
Nelly Korda withdraws from the next event after pulling off a record-equalling feat
Despite having a chance to clinch a historic sixth-straight victory on the LPGA Tour, the American golfer has decided to withdraw from the JM Eagle LA Championship. After winning her second major title at the Chevon Championship, Korda announced in an official statement that it was “not an easy decision” to miss out on the next event on the tour. The LPGA golfer also disclosed the reason behind her decision, saying that she is worn out from her hard work over the previous five weeks.

She stated, “After the unbelievable week at The Chevron and grinding through the mental and physical challenges of four events in the past five weeks, I am definitely feeling exhausted. With so much still to come throughout 2024, I feel I need to listen to my body and get some rest, so I can be ready for the remainder of the season.”
