However, the tennis player specifically cited his first encounter with a UFC champion, who was unknown to him at the time. The tennis superstar participated in a podcast last year and revealed a fantastic story about meeting the UFC fighter.

Nick Kyrgios on meeting Alexander Volks

In the podcast, both well-known personalities were talking about various aspects of their life. During the conversation, the 27-year-old tennis legend talked about how the UFC champion, Alexander Volks, approached him in a bar when he least expected to even see anyone. Alexander Volkanovski is one of the finest featherweight champions in the history of the UFC. Even though he entered the ring later than others, he has won multiple titles and enjoyed a successful career that spanned from middleweight to featherweight.

Sharing the instance, He said, “Honesty, I don’t know, you know, we can cut any of these away. I was in a bar underneath the hotel and this..comes around before me. I have no idea and I have never met volk. He happened to go for a couple of beers and couple of drinks there and he was like Nick man, I am Volk and I was petrified… and thought this guy is insane. We kicked it off great.”

Kyrgios initially thought he was insane and wondered how someone could approach so casually, but they soon became great friends, and now, about a year later, they both appear to be supportive of one another on numerous occasions.

The 27-year-old was competing in the Tokyo Open and fell short of winning the competition. He was supposed to play against Taylor Fritz in the tournament quarter-finals.

However, the Australian tennis star decided to skip the singles and doubles match after he suffered knee soreness while practicing for the same. After the US Open, this is the second time when the tennis star was not able to advance from the Quarterfinals, but because of different reasons.
