Roger Federer’s former coach says Michael Jordan is not the greatest basketball player
The former Croatian tennis player was recently featured in an interview in which he was asked if there is a Michael Jordan in the tennis realm. However, it got a bizarre response from Ivan Ljubičić, who revealed that he doesn’t regard the former Chicago Bulls star as the greatest. Roger Federer’s former coach said, “Yes, but Jordan is also not the most successful. He did not score the most points.”
Ljubičić further said that he believes that Jordan was so dominant because there wasn’t much competition in the basketball community back then. In the process, the 44-year-old tennis coach made a comparison between the NBA legend’s legacy and that of Federer, who is also known as ‘the Michael Jordan of tennis’.
He said, “This is a difference compared to Roger, who actually played against his biggest rivals for the vast majority of his career. And they actually beat him more than he beat them. Although, the fact is that he is 5, 6 years older. And when he got older, the younger ones who came were Djokovic and Nadal.”

Ljubičić also believes that the younger generation on the ATP Tour can’t “nibble” at the legacies of the ‘Big Three’. Notably, the ATP coach added, “So now we can compare, however the fact is that the three of them, we don’t need to argue at all, are the three greatest of all time.”
The former tennis player further said that Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic have their own personality, character, and playing style. Hence, the young tennis stars can’t replicate such qualities on the men’s circuit.
