Nick Kyrgios, the Australian tennis player has once again shared sarcastic remarks about another athlete. He was quick to share his displeasure when a former American basketball veteran complimented Anthony Davis.  The Australian shared his love for his favorite basketball player, Jayson Tatum.


Kyrgios is no stranger to stirring up controversies. Fans await to see how this new drama unfolds. The NBA MVP rankings for this week have undergone some significant changes. Jayson Tatum, a favorite Boston Celtics forward, has taken over the top spot this week. Jayson Tau scored 30 points in three of the Celtics’ last games. He has been a key contributor to their success.

Magic Johnson, a former basketball great from the United States, made the audacious claim that Anthony Davis is currently the MVP on Twitter. However, Nick Kyrgios was quick to throw shade at his claims. He followed the tweet to state his favorite basketball player. The controversial Australian tennis player tweeted, ” Cap 🧢.”

Johnson had praised Davis and his abilities in a tweet. He stated that Anthony Davis is the current NBA MVP frontrunner. After the Aussie’s slang to the title,  a fan asked Kyrgios who his favorite frontrunner was.

Kyrgios was quick to tweet,” Tatum?” Jayson Tatum has developed his skills even further after playing for his first NBA team, Boston Celtics since last year. The 24-year-old forward averages a game-high of 30 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 steal. Tatum’s success as an individual is also contributing to the success of his team. In the most recent game against the Toronto Raptors, which the Celtics won 116-110 on the road, he scored 31 points. He gave Boston a 20-5 record, the best in the league.

Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets is the only player in the league with more points overall than Tatum. Tatum is ecstatic to be among the top MVP candidates. Being in the conversation was both an honor and a surreal experience for him. He went on to say that it had been a childhood dream of his to have people acknowledge and recognize his abilities. That’s not something he ignores or grows accustomed to. He expressed his gratitude for being mentioned alongside guys like Giannis and other dynamic basketball players.

Kyrgios had once displayed his basketball skills on the court

At the 2022 Sydney Kings’ Starlight Celebrity Game a few months ago, Kyrgios displayed his basketball prowess. He didn’t back down from his opponents while starting for a team led by 2GB radio host Ben Fordham. The 26-year-old is a huge basketball fan and has acknowledged that he plays the sport whenever he can.

With a crossover and fake throw that caught the attention of the commentators early on, Kyrgios had set the pace of the match. The Aussie now gears up for a successful 2023  tennis season.
