Matthew Perry came up with a memoir about his past fame, success, and challenges with addiction. In his book, ‘Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing’, Perry explained the challenges he had to go through while in rehab for drug abuse. The actor described the painful experience with the help of tennis terms. As Perry used to be a tennis player earlier. Only the most ardent group of his fans know that Perry was a top-ranked junior tennis player in Canada.

“All of a sudden, I started slamming my head against the wall, as hard as humanly possible. Fifteen-love. SLAM! Thirty-love, SLAM! Forty-love. SLAM!. GAME, SET, AND MATCH, UNACCOMPANIED MINOR SIX LOVE, NEEDS LOVE, SIX LOVE, SCARED OF LOVE. There was blood everywhere.”
Later, Perry revealed that someone stopped him from causing more harm to himself. It was a very dark phase in Perry’s career. However, the actor fought bravely and came out of that phase.

Matthew Perry almost enrolled in Nick Bollettieri’s academy
At one point in time, Perry was very serious about his tennis career. He mentioned the time he moved to the US and was almost sure to get into Nick Bollettieri’s academy. The veteran tennis coach has a long list of extremely successful students. The likes of Monica Seles, Andre Agassi, Maria Sharapova, and the Williams sisters are a few of the legendary tennis players who were students here.

However, Perry’s plans didn’t materialize as he admitted in his book that the prime reason for dropping tennis was the heat. Coming from Canada, he was not accustomed to the hot weather.
