Portland tennis coach honors their school team captain with his initiative
The news of the 16-year-old player’s death rippled through the entire tennis community in Portland. A lot of his friends couldn’t believe that they have lost their school team captain because of a drug overdose. It also came as a huge shock for his coach, Larry Hermida, who considered him his own child.

Portland tennis coach recently reminisced about Griffin Hoffmann by saying that his leadership qualities bought their team together. Hoffmann was a striking figure in McDaniel High School because of his remarkable talent and skills at the game.

He had a huge impact on the entire school team including his coach. Notably, the Northeast Portland school coach is planning to do something for the community. He said, “I said, ‘I think we can do something bigger and better”
To do so, Hermida has launched an initiative, the Griffin Hoffmann Memorial Foundation to honor the American tennis prodigy. The foundation that was recently launched will provide scholarships to students of their school. It will aid them to pursue their further studies and also provide them with basic facilities for tennis.
Hermida will also try to create awareness about fentanyl through his latest endeavors. A tournament in memory of the American tennis player has also been established at the Portland Tennis Center. A lot of his friends and teammates have already hailed him for bringing the McDaniel High School varsity tennis team together.
