Holger Rune has had a good start in 2022. He won the Bavarian International and Sanremo Challenger and did well in the French Open too. Finalist Casper Ruud defeated the Danish player in the quarter-finals and the exchanges during this game had brought the 19-year-old spotlight.

He showed some unfriendly behaviour on the court. At one point, he asked his mother to leave the premises and after his defeat; he had a very cold handshake with his opponent.
Rune compares Roger Federer with himself
Speaking in an interview with Ekstra Bladet, he defended his actions and reactions. He said, “I have an extreme passion for this sport and sometimes I show it too much. I am 19 years old and still young.” Furthermore, he talked about his improvement. He said, “I work every day to get only the positive out of my attitude, and that is a process.”
Moreover, he compared himself with the 20-time grand slam champion, Roger Federer, during his young days.

He said, “If you saw Roger Federer when he was young, maybe he was 40 times worse than me, and he is one of the most loved tennis players on tour, so I think I have plenty of time to get an even better picture.”

The world no. 28 implied that he has a lot of time to work on his image, which he will be able to do with both his age and experience.
Can Rune become like Federer?
Roger Federer is one of the most celebrated players in the world of tennis. Former world no. 1 is known for his decorum, both on and off the court which has brought a good name to the sport as well. Rune, too, wishes to go along the same lines and maintain a positive image in the public. He will now play at the Eastbourne Tournament before the Wimbledon Open.
