During his press conference, a French reported asked to share some memories on the last time he played at Metz. Andy Murray’s last appearance at Moselle open was in 2007 finals against Tommy Robredo. Despite winning the first set handsomely by 6-0, Murray was unable to finish off the match with a good note. He lost to Robredo with a score of 6-0, 2-6, 3-6.
In his words the former world number said,” The guy who drove me back from the practice court to the hotel today was the driver who was driving back to the hotel after I lost to Tommy Robredo in the final in 2007. He further added,” It got pretty heated in the car and I actually got our and walked back to the hotel. I remember getting out and walking back to the hotel was a lot further than what i thought it was. It’s like 10-15 minutes in the car but more like a 45 minute walk. I didn’t really need that after playing a three set match.” Following his press conference, Brad Gilbert also posted regarding this unfortunate scenario.
