History says that there is never a dull moment when Nick Kyrgios is playing a match. Not only do fans wait for his fiery shots and strategic positioning, they also wait to be entertained by his on-court antics duirng a match.

The Miami Open 2022 fourth-round contest was just another such instance. Kyrgios, in spite of playing quite well, could not manage to keep calm. Italian youngster Jannik Sinner took the opportunity to defeat him in straight sets and reach the quarterfinals at Miami for the second time in a row.

Kyrgios could not let the initial upset go and displayed unsportsmanlike behavior towards the umpire as he called him names instead of shaking hands towards the end. It is only a matter of time before we see him slapped with more fines because of his volatile nature.

From what fans could pick up, the Aussie hurled abuses at the umpire once the match got over.

The match was marked by a a lot of drama, with the chair umpire Bernardes’s walkie-talkie going off mid-match. This incited a severe reaction from Kyrgios. Sinner, on the other hand, managed to keep his composure and didn’t get affected by Kyrgios and his antics. Sinner has been applauded for his calm demeanor on court before as well. Given that he is only 20 years of age, he showed remarkable maturity by not engaging in the Kyrgios drama.

Even though Kyrgios was playing sharp tennis with some great volleys and ensuring great ball-placement, he could not persevere against Sinner and his neat strokes. The two were also supposed to meet at the same stage, in Indian Wells. But, Jannik Sinner retired just hours before they were supposed to take the court, citing injury issues.
