Earlier this month, Roger Federer dropped a major career update. The Swiss maestro hasn’t played for over 14 months now, with his last appearance coming at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. Recently, the 20-time Grand Slam champion revealed that the upcoming Laver Cup will be the final tournament of his professional tennis career. It marks the end of an illustrious career for the Swiss legend that has seen him win titles all across the globe.
Despite Federer’s revelation about the Laver Cup being his last tournament, his participation remains uncertain due to a persistent knee problem. Recently, his fitness coach opened up about his participation in the 2022 Laver Cup.

Will Roger Federer participate in the 2022 Laver Cup?
During an interview, the Swiss maestro’s fitness coach, Pierre Paganini, talked about Federer’s chances of participating in the Laver Cup. He said, “This will probably be a last-moment decision. He’s practiced at a level in order to determine exactly if playing is a good idea or not.”
Further, he went on to add, “His aim is to play something, though whether it’s singles or doubles we’ll have to see. His aim is still to play at the Laver Cup – definitely.”

Talking about Federer’s training regime, Paganini said, “We train for three hours in the morning, then another two hours in the afternoon. He trained last week and is training again this week.”
Fans hoping to see a dream team at this year’s Laver Cup
If the Swiss maestro does participate in the 2022 Laver Cup, fans will be in for a treat. Apart from Federer, the likes of Nadal, Djokovic, and Murray will also be participating in the three-day event. They will team up to play for Team Europe in the tournament. Further, there is also a possibility of Nadal and Federer playing doubles together.
