Novak Djokovic is possibly having his worst time since the start of the year. Being pulled out from a number of tournaments, and having no success at the Grand Slams, the Serbian has seen it all. However, his fate doesn’t seem to be taking a pleasant turn anytime. As the worst is still to come.

The coming Monday i.e. tomorrow, could possibly be Djokovic’s worst Monday since 2018. Tomorrow, the 13th of June, Djokovic is set to be dethroned as the World No. 1. One may think that this is the only drawback he will face. However, the facts tell a slightly different story.
Novak Djokovic set to go down
Having an unpleasant first quarter of the year, Djokovic ideally kicked off his year from the clay-court season. Having a confident boost with his win in Rome, he entered the French Open as the defending champion. However, suffering a quarterfinal loss to Nadal, Djokovic lost his champion crown to the now 14-time champion. However, the loss had a bigger picture.

Losing as the defending champion this year, Djokovic is set to lose 2000 points from his ranking tally. Currently on 8770 points, the updated rankings are set to have the Serbian left with just 6770 points. Looking at the shuffling of rankings, Djokovic will be replaced by Daniil Medvedev as the new World No. 1. Behind Medvedev will be Alexander Zverev who will be the new World No. 2.

While one may think of this loss as the only matter of concern, things don’t seem to be very pleasing even at Wimbledon. Even if Djokovic manages to defend his 2000 points at the upcoming Wimbledon, it certainly wouldn’t be of any use for him.
Following ATP’s decision to strip off ranking points from this year’s Wimbledon, Djokovic will lose another 2000 points in the ranking that would follow. With this loss, Djokovic’s point tally is speculated to further drop to only 4770 points. Doing the math, Djokovic is set to move out from the TOP 5 by the end of Wimbledon.

Novak Djokovic’s US Open campaign in doubt
Coming back to his vaccination status, Djokovic seems to remain firm on his stand of not getting vaccinated. Owing to his firm stand, the 35-year-old has already missed the Australian Open any many more tournaments. However, he could possibly incur more loss at the 2022 US Open.
