Novak Djokovic hasn’t had the best of the starts to the 2022 season. The 20-times Grand Slam champion endured controversies and poor form to start the year. However, a champion that he is, Djokovic is back to his best. Yesterday, he had a commanding victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas to win the Italian Open title. It was Djokovic’s first title this year and couldn’t have come at a better time, with the French Open looming later this month.

It was the Serb’s sixth Italian Open title. Additionally, this tournament has become one of his most successful tournaments after the Australian Open. However, the Italian Open win was not the only delightful news for Djokovic. His seven-year-old son, Stefan, emulated his father with an incredible feat.

It’s a very small club tournament. Obviously it doesn’t really matter. The result is secondary. It was nice to see him playing.”

However, Djokovic criticized this ruling, saying, “I will always condemn war, I will never support war being myself a child of war. I know how much emotional trauma it leaves. In Serbia we all know what happened in 1999. In the Balkans we have had many wars in recent history. However, I cannot support the decision of Wimbledon, I think it is crazy.”
