In a thrilling United Cup match, Alexander Zverev lost 6-1, 6-4 to Taylor Fritz on day 5. The match decided the USA to take a 1-0 advantage over Germany. Fritz was amazing as his form on the court and hardly allowed Zverev to break his service. With what was a straight-set victory, fans have been gushing over Fritz’s outstanding performance. As usual, Reddit is giving away its excitement and memes have become a part of the celebration.

The context is that sometime back an image went viral of Taylor trying to teach his girlfriend how to play tennis. The influencer was not very good at it. She bounced the ball off the court several times, and the video made fans ship them even more. Although some fans made memes out of her failed attempts, the internet had an overall positive reaction to the video. Now, after the humiliating defeat at the United Cup, Zverev’s tennis skills are being compared to Morgan’s.

Fritz versus Zverev

The world no. 12 is having a rusty season muddled with injuries. Despite these challenges, he has made it a point to give his best on the court. While Taylor definitely was exceptional during the first set, Zverev gave him a tough time in the second. Zverev saved two out of three break points, but the match was over in almost an hour, with the USA gaining a point over Germany.
