Many tennis pundits labeled Alexander Zverev as the next-gen star who was going to make it big. Fast-forward to 2022, the German tennis star has won 19 singles titles thus far, including five ATP Masters 1000 titles.
However, a Grand Slam title still eludes the talented World Number 3. He came close to winning his maiden Grand Slam title at the 2020 US Open. He lost the final-set tie-breaker in the summit clash to finish second-best to Dominic Thiem. Throughout his career, Zverev has been troubled by inconsistent performances in major tournaments.

Recently, a controversy erupted surrounding the German at the Abierto Mexicano in Acapulco, Mexico. After his first-round doubles encounter, Zverev smashed his racket at the chair of the umpire. Further, he apologized for his actions but had to face the consequences. Subsequently, he was set aside from the tournament. Raul Zurutuza, the tournament president, has come out in support of Zverev.

Sasha he is very sad about that reaction and well, we simply (we want to tell him) that we are very sorry that this has happened and we reiterate that this is your home.”
