Austrian tennis player Dominic Thiem has been one of the best players on the tour. When he first arrived, he displayed glimpses of being among the top players in the world. Rightly so, he did and was the first player amongst the big four to win a Slam.

Sadly, Thiem was injured for most of the last season. Even during the initial parts of the season last year, he did not achieve the results he would’ve desired. Prior to the Wimbledon Championships 2021, he injured his wrist and did not play tennis for the remainder of the season.

Speaking post the loss, Thiem stated, “I felt like a tennis player again. Obviously, the result is the bitter part, I would have liked to win, but I have to accept with humility this defeat. That is the only way to start a long-term process that leads me to my best game. I knew this could happen and all I can say is that I will give everything to play at my best again.”

Done wonders in the game

Reflecting on his career so far, Dominic has been amongst the top players in the game over the past few years. He was the first player to win a Slam for a player born in the 1990s. Despite that win, he has made it to the final of a Major on three occasions. He lost to Rafael Nadal twice at the French Open and once to Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open.
