There are athletes in the tennis community whose talents extend beyond the confines of the sport as they have entered the realms of Hollywood. One such name is the adaptive tennis athlete, Kevin Iannucci who is part of a heartwarming movie alongside Academy Award-nominee, Woody Harrelson.

In the film, Iannucci will be seen on the court of a different sport as he will play the role of a basketball athlete suffering from Down’s syndrome. Here’s what the Special Olympics athlete has to say about his new role for the latest release directed by the renowned American film director, Bobby Farrelly.

Kevin Iannucci stars in a movie alongside Woody Harrelson
The Special Olympics athlete’s love of acting began ever since he was a child as he was part of many short films. Now, Kevin Iannucci has taken his passion to the next level by entering the realms of Hollywood starring alongside some notable names. The Kingpin actor, Woody Harrelson is also part of the movie based on athletes suffering from Down’s syndrome.
Titled “Champions,” the film has already triggered speculation in the sporting community. Harrelson has taken up the role of a former minor-league basketball coach for the movie that will feature the adaptive tennis athlete.

Iannucci, on the other hand, was excited to be a part of the cast as his acting talent has often been lauded by many. In addition, during his childhood, the avid tennis was part of a theater group and also featured in some stage dramas. Iannucci always dreamt of being on the big screen someday and now having achieved that, he may truly be ecstatic.

Speaking of it in an interview with the USTA, he said, “I don’t know about that, but I started when I was little and liked it so much that I just kept doing it.”

However, Iannucci also faced some challenges during the filming of the movie which happened in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Due to the location, the days were quite long, and to him, it was the hardest part of the filming.
Kevin Iannucci’s coaches are proud of his endeavors
The adaptive tennis athlete has featured in Special Olympics sports and has often been lauded by his Abilities Tennis coaches. Iannucci has always trained hard on the tennis courts in order to improve his game.

One of his coaches, Allan Goldberg has also lavished praise on him by saying that he is really enthusiastic when it comes to tennis. He further regards him as an inspiration for the USTA captains, who should witness his joy on the court.
