

During his tough loss at the Paris Masters, it looked like Novak Djokovic suffered a serious injury. The 21 times Grand Slam champion, who spent most of his time off the court due to his stand on vaccination, is doing his best to gain the ranking with which he started the season. However, the finals of the Paris Masters didn’t turn out the way it ideally should have for him.

He suffered some kind of injury during the match and had to call the physio, which caused fear of him missing out on the ATP Finals. Djokovic later revealed about the situation in the post-match press conference.
Novak Djokovic opens up about his injury
While in the interview post his defeat, Djokovic was asked if his injury in any way was the reason behind his loss. To which he replied, “I mean, oh, I don’t want to talk about that. Because I know that you guys might take that as, you know, excuse or something like this why I lost.”

“No, everything was okay. I mean, it’s normal that when you play day after day and you have some tightness here and there, but I didn’t have an injury. I fought till the last moment. So it wasn’t to be for me today,” he explained. Djokovic, who took down the former World no.3 Stefanos Tsitsipas in a nail-biting battle on Saturday to reach the finals, lost to the Swiss Indoors Basel finalist and Stockholm Open champion Holger Rune.

The Danish professional got the better of the former World no.1 at the expense of the first set. He lifted the trophy with a 3-6 6-3 7-5 victory. Thus, snapping Djokovic‘s 13-match win streak.
Djokovic will join the singles squad at the ATP Finals
The 35-year-old will soon compete in the Nitto ATP Finals alongside the Australian Open and French Open champion Rafael Nadal and other top players. Despite the Wimbledon Championships not having any ranking points, Djokovic claimed the trophy over there, and thus qualified for the ATP Finals.
