In a world of ‘Drink Water’ not Coke, Corentin Moutet is a rare example in the world of sports. The 24-year-old Frenchman has been at the peak of all actions since making his professional debut 8 years ago. Moutet has missed this year’s Australian Open due to an injury and now he has apologized to his fans for leaving the match midway due to an injury at the Qualifiers of the Argentina Open.
Although the result of the match didn’t go his way, Argentina’s Mariano Navone defeated the Frenchman by 5-7,6-2,6-2 at the Couurt Guillermo Vilas in the Qualifiers on Friday. But Corentin Moutet, who has often been a controversial figure in the ATP Tour stole the show in his own way.

Two years back, he had retired from a match in Naples after he found the court to be too slippery for his liking. And, now in the middle of a qualifying match in Buenos Aires, he yet again shows his disastrous behavior. He drank soda, got engaged in a heated argument with the public, called the physio and refused to seek treatment.
Later on, he took X(formerly Twitter) to apologise for leaving the match midway. He wrote, “Thought I was ready to compete but my body left me at 7/5 2/1… Tried everything to fight until the end but wasn’t enough. (Even tried Pepsi thing that I didn’t drink since a year maybe). Still in the process to come back 100%. It takes time. But I practice good so my time will come for sure. Thanks for the support.“

Moutet always tries different things on the court
Corentin Moutet is among the few ATP Tour players who regularly deploy the underarm serve in his matches. He was seen using it frequently during his opening-round win at the Chengdu Open last year. Later on, after the match he was asked about his increased use of this type of serve style in the game.

Here’s what he said, “Yeah, I’m working hard on it. I think I have to do more. It’s working better than my normal serve. So I think I should do it lot. I think maybe every point in the future.” Moutet keeps on letting his fans guess what comes next on the court while he plays. An entertainer on the court. Isn’t it?
