What does Daniil Medvedev have to do to remain no.1?
Recently, at Acapulco Daniil Medvedev lost his semi-final bout against the 21-time Grand Slam champion, Rafael Nadal. Meanwhile, Daniil will remain in the no.1 spot, even after this defeat. He just needs to reach the quarter-final at the Indian Wells. Even if he doesn’t reach the quarter-finals at Indian Wells, he is guaranteed to remain no.1 for three weeks. In case the Russian reaches the quarter-final, he will hold on to the no.1 ranking for two more weeks.

Can Djokovic reclaim his no.1 spot?
After losing to Jiri Vesely at the quarter-final of the Dubai Open, Novak Djokovic lost his no.1 ATP ranking to Daniil Medvedev. There’s a slight chance he will regain his no.1 spot if Daniil Medvedev fails miserably in the next two tournaments.

However, it’s still an impossible task for the Serbian, as there’s still a question mark over his next tournament. Almost every tournament now has implemented the vaccine mandate and without the covid vaccine, one can not play any tournaments. Since Djokovic chose not to take the vaccine, it’s difficult for him to take part in any tournaments now.

With the lack of play, Djokovic will not gain any points. As a result, Daniil Medvedev will have a great chance to win some points, as he holds on the no.1 position.
