German ATP star Alexander Zverev is keeping his eye on the bigger ball. He recently attained two impressive career milestones but couldn’t satisfy his hunger. As an eager beaver, Zverev offered an interesting career goal, highlighting a promising season ahead. As he delved deeper into his wishes, the fraternity could feel the essence of former Swiss star Roger Federer’s ambitions in him.

The German player won the 2024 Rolex Paris Masters Finals by beating France’s Ugo Humbert by 6-2 and 6-2. He also returned to his ATP number two ranking when he defeated Holger Rune in the semifinals of the same tournament. Upon reaching this career milestone, Zverev was asked whether he still focused on a particular goal, and his response was intriguing.

For me, my biggest goal right now is to improve the things that I think I’m worse at than the other guys are at. That is my goal until the Australian Open. That’s why, yes, I’m in the final here; I’m extremely happy about that; I’m extremely happy with how I’m playing, as well, but again, this is not my main focus right now,” Zverev said. He wished to improve his weak points and was delighted to be in the Paris Masters Finals.

It’s a huge thing for me. It’s big. It’s big for any player. It’s a privilege to be in these kinds of situations,” said the German. However, he confirmed that his team wishes to work on things for the next season. “Me and my team, me and my coaching staff, me and my physical trainer, we have set a goal that we want to improve on things until, you know, for next season. This is our main focus. This is our vision for what we want to do. That, for me, is the only goal that I have at the moment,” he concluded. It was clear Zverev wasn’t satisfied with reaching ATP number two. He was happy, of course, but he had more ambition about his career, which is a marvelous attitude.
