Miami Open is underway and as usual there’s a lot of great tennis on display. In a much anticipated fourth-round match, Alexander Zverev marched past Thanasi Kokkinakis in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. The German’s attitude and approach towards the match should give him confidence for the rest of the tournament.

Zverev has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism this year. His meltdown at Acapulco was a display of extremely bad behavior but, the world no. 3 seems more grounded now as he faces Casper Ruud in the quarters at Miami.

Will Alexander Zverev be the next World No. 1?
Alexander Zverev, stands a chance to top the ATP rankings list if a few conditions go his way. He had this opportunity earlier in the year as well, at the Australian Open. But, he kissed it goodbye after an insipid fourth-round match against Dennis Shapovalov in Melbourne.
A title from Zverev in Miami would guarantee that for the first time in like 20 years we would have three players fighting for ATP #1 in the same week during the Monte Carlo Masters https://t.co/TSomJIXijg

With the points they have so far, if Zverev manages to lift the trophy in Miami, he will be within 400 points of the World no. 1. This will happen if Daniil Medvedev loses in the quarterfinals of Miami. The Russian star defeated Jenson Brooksby in straight sets and has a quarterfinal clash against the defending Miami champion, Hubert Hurkacz.

It will also mark a special time in the tennis fraternity as for the first time in about two decades, there will be multiple players contending for the top spot at the Monte Carlo Masters. Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, and Alexander Zverev will thus be fighting for the same achievement at the same time and rest assured, it will be a fantastic time for any tennis fan!
