American tennis legend Andre Agassi is among the top tennis players of all time. The 8-time Grand Slam champion has a perfect story where a champion player ends up marrying another champion. Both Agassi and his wife, German tennis legend Steffi Graf, are prestigious inductees of the Tennis Hall of Fame. While everything looks so perfect now, it was not always the case. The American had a fair share of controversies in his career.

Earlier, it was because of the fragile self-esteem he revealed later. Here’s what the American thinks could be the reason behind his behavior back in those days.
Andre Agassi gave a probable reason for his strange behavior
Speaking of his strange habits, earlier in his career, the former world number one once sat down for an interview and tried to figure out the reasons. He said, “Maybe I was rewarded too quickly. I came at a time when tennis needed somebody – when tennis was looking for another American. I had so much notoriety before I had really accomplished great things. For me to be doing Nike commercials and Canon commercials and never winning a Grand Slam – that left me with a bad rap – all image and no substance”

The problem didn’t stop there, as the former tennis star later admitted in his autobiography that he consumed crystal meth back in 1997 and got away with it. This angered many members of the tennis fraternity and further deteriorated his image in the realm of tennis.

Agassi’s life came back to track after marrying Steffi Graf
After having a rough couple of years and going through a divorce, Agassi met the love of his life. The American first met Steffi Graf when they both won the 1992 Wimbledon Championships.

However, the couple didn’t start dating back then. Agassi tried to get along with the German legend after his divorce in 1999.

After dating for two years, the couple tied the knot in the year 2001. Today, they are happily married and blessed with two children, Jaz Elle and Jaden Gil.
