Isner and McKinley met during a tournament in Houston in 2011. Their first official meeting, though, took place in London while McKinley was on holiday and Isner was attending Wimbledon.

They continued to meet and travel all over the world after that, even returning to London in 2012. Years later, on June 25, 2017, a day before their sixth anniversary, the tennis star proposed to his girlfriend at Saint Mary’s Church.
