Christopher Eubanks is an American professional tennis player. Lately, Eubanks has steadily risen through the ranks. He was a player in the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets team during his college years. There, he won All-American and the ACC Player of the Year twice. On 3 July 2023, he achieved a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 43.

While rising steadily through the ranks, Eubanks could not have risen to this level on his own. Throughout his life, he has received help from his family and friends. His father coached him till he was 13, then he kept learning the sport at Donald Young’s family’s tennis center. Through steady support, Eubanks was able to play tennis in college as well.

In 2013, he had a 48-6 overall record as a junior. In the USTA Nationals in Kalamazoo, he advanced six rounds. He took first place in the Georgia State Closed Junior Challenger. He was also a member of the USTA National Boys’ 18 Team Championships winning team. Although he found it difficult to break into the top 100 in the ATP rankings in his first five seasons, Eubanks has had a breakthrough year so far. He is a Wimbledon quarterfinalist and will break into the top 20 after his stint at SW19.

Chris Eubanks’ focus on tennis

The Covid-19 outbreak struck just as Eubanks felt he was getting a handle on his technique. To develop confidence, he qualified for the Australian Open and won some matches on the ATP Challenger Tour.

When the tour began after the pandemic ended, he felt he had to start from scratch. In a heart-to-heart conversation, Eubanks told his agent that if he was injury free and still outside 200, he would put his efforts into something else.

Eubanks decided it was time to make some changes in 2022. He committed to a steady routine and spent money on a full-time coach. This move came after years of cutting corners and aiming to create a tennis career while being frugal. Eventually, the victories started coming the way of the American player, often four or five a week at small competitions.

Winning two qualifying matches and then making it to the quarterfinals of the Miami Open showed the heights he could reach. After a dream run, he turned to ATP 250 and 500 events and tried his luck. As a testament to his growth, Eubanks won his first ATP 250 title in the Mallorca Championships.
