Indian Wells Masters is the most anticipated ATP and WTA Masters of the year. The tour has finally begun and the lineups are more exciting than ever. The excitement was rampant even before the tour began and the build-up to it saw a lot of drama. Novak Djokovic’s controversial withdrawal made headlines worldwide. Due to his exit, the top seed in the ATP version is rank two, Carlos Alcaraz. The WTA side has world number one, Iga Swiatek, as the top seed. With draws already made, the schedule of the Indian Wells has been decided.

ATP schedule of Indian Wells
The ATP version of Indian Wells saw Taylor Fritz emerging triumphant in 2022. Fritz went into the match with an ankle injury and had to create a strategy around that. He faced Rafael Nadal, who was also injured, but couldn’t dominate the game as usual.

This season starts off with Taylor Fritz being the fourth seed. The 2022 Wimbledon quarterfinalist received a bye, along with Tommy Paul. Like the two American stars, Carlos Alcaraz also received a bye for his first round and has advanced to the round of 64.

The Men’s round of 128 has started and will go on till 10th March. The round of 64 will promptly begin on 11th March and will go on till 12th. However, the round of 16 will give the players a break and commence on 14th March with the Quarterfinal following on 15th. The semi-final, on the other hand, will give the players 3 days of break for proper resting and strategy formation. The final of the ATP Indian Wells will take place on 20th March.

WTA schedule of Indian Wells
The 2022 WTA Indian Wells saw the current world number 1 Iga Swiatek emerging triumphant. The Polish player won the final in straight sets and defeated the Greek star Maria Sakkari with relative ease. Swiatek is the no.1 seed this year and received a bye in her first round. Her opponent in the round of 64 is yet to be decided.

Following a similar pattern to the ATP version, the first round ends on 10th March. Round 2, 3 and 4 will take place from 11th March to 14th March. With no break in between, the quarterfinals will be on the 15th and 16th of March. The semifinal will take place on 17th March and the final will be on the same date as the men’s final.

The favorites for the tournament at the moment are Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula. In the men’s category, Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas and the winner of the Dubai Tennis Championships, Daniil Medvedev, are all favorites to lift the title.
