Ben Shelton’s busy schedule throughout this year

Ben Shelton has already tasted his first victory at the Indian Wells by defeating the 18-year-old Mensik in his latest match. But to take it further, when asked about his future goals regarding playing in the Olympics, he showed his reluctance on the subject. Explaining the reasons for his decision, Shelton revealed the tight schedule that he will be facing throughout the year. His determination to improve his performance at the US Open further helped him take this major decision.

“Definitely thought about it a lot. I’d say now I’m leaning towards not going this year if I were to make it. I think it’s tough in the tennis schedule this year. I’ll be in Europe for two months leading up to Wimbledon, and then after, you know, I want to prepare and really get ready for the US Open,” he said in an interview.

Further emphasizing his desire to prepare well for the US Open, Ben Shelton offered an insight on how it would be difficult for him to juggle his tournaments if he plays in the Olympics this year. “So having to go back to Europe to play on clay, a different surface, you know, it kind of messes up a few lead-up tournaments to the US Open that I would play if I wasn’t playing the Olympics,” Shelton added further.
