Tiafoe was overcome with emotion after the match as he apologized to the Arthur Ashe crowd for his defeat. Recently, the American tennis player revealed the true reason for his emotional apology.
He said, “I mean, obviously emotions are flying a thousand miles an hour.”

Tiafoe further added that winning the US Open was his main focus and really wanted to win it. He said, “I wanted to be here on Sunday holding the cup. I had it in my head. To be honest with you, guys were asking me what was my idea coming in. I genuinely believe I could win the US Open. That was the focus.”
The American tennis player added that his family was also rooting for him to win the tournament. Tiafoe stated, “Everyone around me, that was the focus. My girlfriend, my team, we approached every day as such to win the US Open. And the crowd was feeling me. The crowd was really getting behind me. I know they really wanted to see me win.”

He also stated that one of the reasons for his emotional apology was that he did not want to disappoint his supporters. The American said, “Obviously I didn’t mean it in that sense, letting them down.

Tiafoe paid tribute to Serena Williams
Tiafoe stunned the crowd by defeating the Spaniard Nadal 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the round of 16 at the US Open. Following his resounding victory over Rafael Nadal, the American tennis player paid the ultimate tribute to Serena Williams. He was seen donning a personalized hoodie. He entered the court after the match, wearing a hoodie with a complete list of Serena Williams’ 23 grand slam victories on the back. On the front was written “GOAT” (Greatest Of All Time)
Serena, in his opinion, belongs in the same league as “GOAT” athletes like Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and Tom Brady. They all have excelled in their respective sports. He also stated that Williams is one of the reasons he chose to play tennis.

The 24-year-old American had a fantastic run at the tournament. He will also rise in the rankings after reaching the semi-final of the US Open by defeating the world no.3 Rafael Nadal. Aside from that, he is rightly receiving a lot of praise and recognition from a plethora of tennis fans.
