The American tennis player’s sarcastic comment on the US mid-term elections has attracted a lot of criticism from the fans. Notably, a fan recently slammed Reilly Opelka for talking about political matters in the United States. The fan tweeted, “@ReillyOpelka can’t play tennis and he apparently hasn’t got anything intelligent to tweet while he’s sitting. But here’s a tip. Sit down and shut up. You should be working on your tennis instead. @atptour and @TennisChannel don’t actually need you right now.”

The American tennis player hasn’t had a good season so far as he missed out on a lot of tournaments. He last participated at the Citi Open, where he played against the Australian tennis player, Nick Kyrgios. However, despite his first-round victory, Opelka was knocked out by Kyrgios in the round of 16 of the tournament. Prior to the Citi Open, Opelka also participated in Wimbledon, where he won against the Spanish tennis player, Carlos Taberner, in the first-round match.

However, after his brilliant performance in the first-round, Opelka was defeated by the Dutch tennis player Tim van Rijthoven in the second-round. After Wimbledon, Opelka missed the Grand Slam event in New York. Since then, he hasn’t made any statement about his absence from the tour.
