Amid Australian Open Action, Roger Federer Stays Close to the Sport as He Tries Hands at a Tennis Alternative

Roger Federer retired from tennis in 2022. Despite stepping away from the sport, the Swiss Maestro still maintains a good relationship with it. The 20-time grand slam champion started playing the sport professionally in 1998, and subsequently, he made the world fall in love with tennis. Recently, he shared a glimpse of the places where he tried his hand at an alternative form of tennis.

The alternative form of tennis might be disagreeable to some, but it has been growing in popularity in the last few years. Many have chosen to opt for it, and Federer likely inspired thousands to pick it up.

The world has been deprived of watching Federer play the sport since late 2022. Roger Federer experienced difficulties in keeping up with the tour and decided to retire from the sport. But he didn’t stop playing the sport altogether. Recently, he was seen playing tennis, but an alternative form of it. The Swiss Maestro traveled to Dubai, at a time when the world is completely focused on the Australian Open

In the Emirates, Federer decided to try touch tennis, which is a simpler form of tennis. In touch tennis, players play on a smaller court with smaller rackets and a foam ball. For the Swiss Maestro, who has trouble with his knees, it could be a great workout routine.

Although Federer trying his hand at a new sport would be worldwide news, at the moment, the world is focused on another event, which is the main draw of the Australian Open.

The Australian Open main draw gives us exciting bouts

The Australian Open main draw has taken over the tennis world. Novak Djokovic is set to face a qualifier in round 1 but has a great chance of facing Ben Shelton in round 4. Naomi Osaka, who came back this year after a year’s absence, will play against Caroline Garcia in round 1, giving her a difficult bout right off the bat.
