The young American sensation Taylor Fritz has made his way to the top 10 in the ATP rankings. The current Indian Wells champion has been inconsistent on the tour this season. After making it to the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon Championships, the American star had a disappointing outing in the US Open, walking out of the tournament in the first round.

The American is currently playing in the Japan Open. After his win against Denis Shapovalov in the semi-final, he is set to move up a position in his rankings to number 10 in the world. However, his updated ranking was widely affected by Nick Kyrgios’ walkover in the quarter-finals. 

Fans celebrate Taylor Fritz on his remarkable achievement

Following Indian Wells and Eastbourne International, this was the third semi-final that Fritz has played this year. After beating his opponent, the American was caught on camera, expressing his delight over his expected ranking. This is the first time that he has entered the top 10 and he could not contain his happiness on the court and his fans expressed their delight on twitter.

A fan appreciated his reaction. He wrote, “Awww this reaction is lovely.”

American tennis fans have waited for this moment for a long time. One American fan echoed such sentiments when he tweeted, “Bringing US tennis back on the boards after a long time.”

Previously, the American sensation has said that his goal this year was to reach the top 10, and he cannot be more excited about his goal coming true. His fans are impressed that the 24-year-old is working hard on his goal.

Fritz to face Frances Tiafoe in the final of Japan Open

The final of the Japan Open will be an American face off, as Fritz is all set to face his compatriot, Frances Tiafoe, after his three-set semi-finals win over Kwon Soon-woo. The final will be played today, October 9. Notably, the US Open semifinalist, Tiafoe, will be looking to claim his first title of the season in Japan.

However, before playing in the Tokyo Open, Fritz tested positive for COVID-19 and he was quarantined for almost a week. He has made the most of the recovery period, as he has roared back to form in style.
