Renowned tennis player Karen Khachanov recently enjoyed a heartwarming encounter with tennis great Andre Agassi at an Armenian event in Los Angeles. Although holding American citizenship, the former World No.1 also has Assyrian and Armenian heritage on his father’s side. Khachanov was greatly touched by Agassi’s presence, as his latest social media post indicates.
This meeting occurred right before Khachanov’s next charity match, which added more meaning to the gathering. On Saturday, March 16, Khachanov, will square off against World No. 5 Andrey Rublev in a match arranged by Homenetmen Glendale Ararat, a local non-profit that has been supporting Armenian youth through sports and scouting programs for the past 45 years. What serendipitous timing!

The event occurred at a place called Lulu Restaurant in Westwood, Los Angeles, following which Karen Khachanov shared an Instagram post with a picture of himself with Agassi, captioning it, “From little Armenia with love. Thanks for coming and supporting the event! @agassi”. The embrace between tennis greats Khachanov and Agassi represented more than simply their meeting; it also represented a friendship based on a shared love for the game and their common heritage.
