Andy Murray Adds Another Tournament to His Schedule After Marking His Comeback at ATP Biella Challenger

Andy Murray marked a great comeback to the circuit by reaching the Finals of the ATP Challenger event at Biella, Italy. He played five matches in six days to get himself up and running for the 2021 season and has now confirmed his participation in an upcoming ATP 250 event. 

Murray was beaten in straight sets by Illya Marchenko in the Biella Challenger final, but the Brit is hoping for more positive tournaments ahead.

Andy Murray is fresh into his return to the ATP Tour and he’s confirmed to be taking part at the Open Sud de France ATP 250 event which starts on February 22. Murray’s ranked as World No. 125 at the moment, but the organizers at Montpeiller awarded him a wildcard to come and participate in the tournament. 

The organizers are optimistic about Murray’s chances at the event as they mentioned that  he’s “looking forward to competing once again.”

It is indeed optimistic to see Andy Murray take up challenges one after the other in the current stage of his career. He’s not the player from the past, but the 33-year-old is looking to make a mark despite his injury struggles. 

A positive COVID-19 test halted Murray’s initial comeback to the tour at the Australian Open 2021However, the two-time Wimbledon champ kept his head high and competed in a challenger event to get back into shape for the remainder of the 2021 ATP season.

Murray pulled out of the second challenger event in Biella

Andy Murray was supposed to participate in the second indoor event in Biella but chose to withdraw from the tournament in order to prepare for the ATP 250 event in Montpellier. 

It seems like the logical thing to do as Murray would be quite satisfied with the number of matches he played in the first challenger tournament in Italy. Playing in the second event only adds a risk of injury ahead of plenty of other ATP tournaments that are yet to commence.

As of now, Andy Murray has decided to fly to France to prepare for Open Sud de France, which runs from February 22-28.
