Andy Murray’s hunt for a coach continues after the British star decided to not continue with Jan de Witt after a brief stint during the Australian Open summer. Andy Murray to team up with Dani Vallverdu on a trial run at ATP Rotterdam tournament

Ever since splitting up with coach Jamie Delgado, Murray teamed up with two professionals for a trial run and both those collaborations didn’t end up successful. Now, the latest news to appear is that the Brit is all set to take in Dani Vallverdu on trial during his stint at the ATP 500 event in Rotterdam.

The interesting thing to note here is the fact that Vallverdu is still coaching Stan Wawrinka, who is trying to make his comeback on the ATP tour. The Swiss star recently shared a video of him hitting a practice court for the first time in over a year on his Instagram account.

If Vallverdu is confirmed, it will be interesting who Wawrinka decides to hire for what can be considered the final stretch of his illustrious career. In a way, both Murray and Wawrinka are at the same stage of their professional careers and they need a person who helps them produce the best result possible.

Vallverdu is part of Murray’s team when he lifted Wimbledon title in 2013

Vallverdu boasts an impressive resume on the ATP tour. He was part of Murray’s entourage during 2012-13 season where the Brit added two Grand Slam titles to his name. The Venezuelan also guided Tomas Berdych to a career-best ranking of no.4 in 2015 and was Grigor Dimitrov’s coach when he lifted the year-end championships title in 2017.

While it appears that Murray’s collaboration with Vallverdu is temporary, the Brit will be making a right choice if things go well between the two during their run at Rotterdam and several other tournaments. Meanwhile, Stan Wawrinka is yet to decide on his ATP tour comeback.
