The US Open begins on Monday and the fans are eagerly waiting for the finale of Grand Slam events. The release of the men’s and women’s singles draw has further fueled the fire. There are some pretty crazy fixtures in both categories, especially the first round matches.

In the wake of the tournament, there have been multiple withdrawals as well. The likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams won’t be present at the tournament. However, the tournament promises the same ability and aggression from the other players.

Andy Murray vs Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first round of the US Open
The two players in discussion have never played against each other in the past. However, World No.3 Stefanos will be a favorite against the veteran Scottish national. Andy Murray has been traversing a rough patch in his career for the past few years.
The Scot has not had the greatest of times due to a long term back injury. He featured in a number of tournaments this year, however hasn’t been able to make his mark. Stefanos has been having a great year after reaching the French Open final this year. He will be looking forward to go all the way this time in New York.

Richard Gasquet vs Daniil Medvedev is another one to watch out for
Daniil Medvedev has been having a great year along with many others. He has been destined for greatness this month as he can challenge Novak Djokovic for the Grand Slam title. However, in his way stands French veteran Richard Gasquet in the first round itself.
They both share a win each against each other in the past. However, Medvedev is deemed as a favorite to win the bout this time. Gasquet’s old age and form are not up to par with the Russian, especially after he has been in red hot form recently.

Women’s first round matches
The women’s category has witnessed some fiery fixtures as well. Naomi Osaka is on her way towards defending her 2020 US Open title this year. However, she has a number of players waiting to dethrone her.
All the first round fixtures have potential winners of the tournament, along with Ashleigh Barty and other important players.
