Novak Djokovic has always had a flair for creating dramatic movements, and his latest move has done exactly that! Known for his stunning comebacks and jaw-dropping victories, the Serbian superstar recently announced that his new coach, at least until the Australian Open, will be none other than his long-time rival, Andy Murray. And as if that wasn’t enough to set the internet ablaze, fans are having a field day speculating about Murray’s wife, Kim Sears, and her potential influence on this surprising partnership.

Taking to his social media handles on November 23rd, Saturday, the Serbian Maestro announced the latest news. “I am excited to have one of my greatest rivals on the same side of the net, as my coach. Looking forward to start of the season and competing in Australia alongside Andy, with whom I have shared many exceptional moments on Australian soil,” Djokovic announced. Murray, meanwhile, confirmed the news highlighting his excitement to partner with his arch-rival and be with him on the same side of the nets. This partnership has garnered surprising reactions from fans with many believing that Muray’s decision to return to the courts, although in a new role, was because of his wife.

Sharing a unique and amusing take, a user drafted a post on X and shared an old picture of Kim Sears in which she is looking visibly upset. Captioning it, the user wrote, “Kim’s face when Andy Murray tells her he will be coaching Djokovic in Australia in January and not looking after the kids as he said he would after retirement.” This quickly gained traction as many others joined to share their perspectives.

Taking to X, a user wrote, “It’s funny seeing your favourite athlete claiming to retire for their family only for them to come out of retirement or go back to coaching months later. These lot really hate their family 😭.” Remember, while announcing his retirement from the sport, Murray highlighted that he wished to spend time with his wife and four kids.

I’m looking forward to having experiences with my family, which I’ve not had time to do because of the tennis,” Murray said in an interview for BBC Sports. “I’m looking forward to being at home with them consistently and not having to explain to my children why I’m going away. They don’t care about the tennis but they’re always asking when I’m coming home,” he added. However, his return has made fans question his earlier remarks. More reactions continued to follow.

Responding to the post, another user wrote, “Probably told him to go out and get a job!” Murray played his last professional match alongside Dan Evans at the Paris Olympics. They were eliminated in straight sets by Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz. However, Murray expressed satisfaction over his career highlighting that he would wish to take a break from the sport for quite some time. However, in less than six months, he is once again gearing back to the courts, although in a new role, making fans wonder the reason. Similar responses continued as more users joined the fray.

I think she told him to go get a job and stop upsetting her routine. Cant play a lot of golf in Dec and Jan,” a user wrote. Interestingly, Murray has taken up golf passionately ever since he hung up his racquets.  He has been often seen on the gold course practicing as she shares interesting insights with his fans. In a recent Instagram story, the Scot was seen practicing his swing and making his shot. Captioning the video, he wrote, “Any progress yet?” However, fans believe that these practices do not sit well with Sears who wished Murray to go and earn some money.

One more user sparked doubts about the entire partnership and wrote, “It does seem rather odd so soon after retirement and Djokovic can’t have too long before he retires.” For the unversed, the latest partnership with Nole and Murray comes at a time when the 37-year-old is facing some challenges with his coaching team.

Djokovic did not add a permanent coach to his team after splitting up with Goran Ivanisevic in March this year. While he joined forces with Nenad Zimonjic and Boris Bošnjaković he made it clear that they were just a temporary solution. However, fans opine that given Nole’s age and the chances of his retirement, this partnership might not last long.

Yet another user took a playful jibe at Sayers and simply wrote, “I reckon she told him to go and do something 😆” For now, it would be interesting to see if Sears or Murray will come out to respond to these speculations. But one thing is certain: this duo of Djokovic and Murray is already the talk of the tennis world.
