Right now an epic battle is taking place in Rome, World Number 1 Jannik Sinner is currently battling it out against 4 time Grand Slam Winner Carlos Alcaraz in the Italian Open Final. This particular final carries immense importance for both the players, Sinner himself being Italian, so looking to do his country proud and Alcaraz probably looking to beat Sinner in their first ever meeting in a Master’s 1000 final, and add to his already astounding legacy, and in light of that, their family’s seem to be showing up in support.
While Alcaraz’s family has always been a huge felt present in his games, it is not as frequent that one is able to see Skinner’s family, however, during this year’s Italian open they were seen frequently in the stands, even causing Eurosport Italia to share an X statement that translated to,“A scene that doesn’t happen often in Sinner’s matches: the whole family was present in the stands with dad Hanspeter, mom Siglinde (very tense) and brother Mark. Everyone close to Jannik in this match so heartfelt for his career”
But are his parents at the all important final? The answer is yes! Hanspeter and Siglinde Sinner were spotted by cameras in the stands to watch their son in his first Masters final on clay. With Sinner up 4-3 currently in the first set, Siglinde will surely be hoping for a stress free win. After all, it was only a couple days ago when she was spotted outside the stadium, unable to handle the tension during Jannik Sinner’s semifinal against Tommy Paul.

As she told Gazzetta Italia (translated to English), “I left at the end of the first set. I’m taking a walk around here and waiting for the match to finish. I never watch Jannik’s matches live from start to finish—it rarely happens. I prefer watching on TV. Only in Turin was I able to see the final live and a bit of the earlier rounds. My husband stayed; he has no problem with it.“

Now fans will be keen to spot Jannik Sinner’s family and see whether his mother lasts the whole match! And as the keen fan does for all games, they will be looking forward to catching the looks of pride, worry and tension on the faces of Sinner’s mother and father, to then try and piece together the life of this enigmatic world number one.
To be fair though, Sinner’s family isn’t that much of a mystery, considering the star player has mentioned them frequently in the press.

More about Jannik Sinner’s family and the sport he was born into before the one he chose
Unlike Carlos Alacaraz’s family that is all too familiar with the world of tennis, his father being an extremely talented player himself, Jannik Sinner’s family has a deep history with skiing. In fact, his mother and father met at a ski resort where his father worked as a chef and his mother as a waitress. As a result Jannik was encouraged to pursue skiing before tennis, however his parents ultimately supported him with his choice.
After winning the Australian Open in 2024 Sinner commented on this saying, “I wish that everyone could have my parents because they always let me choose whatever I wanted to.” So it’s not that his parent’s don’t show up at his games more often because they don’t fully stand by their son, in fact, Sinner used his win at the Miami Open in 2024 to address the fact that his parents were missing from the stands by saying, “They won’t travel much, at least [for] now. I know them, so I also have my grandma and grandpa, which they [are] a certain age now [so my parents] want to stay close.”

Which, anyone who has elderly family members, will know is a touching reason to sacrifice seeing one’s son earn more victories. Now, however, with the Italian Open presumably being closer to his family than any of his other finals and with their presence felt in the early round matches, fans can see Jannik Sinner entering this final with familial support in the stands once again.
