The British tennis professional Andy Murray has drawn some attention recently. The former World no.1 is struggling for a breakthrough since his groin injury in 2019. Even though Murray took part in all the major tournaments this year, he failed to leave an impact.
Recently, his actions and repeated change of decisions brought him under the microscope. The Brit earlier made an announcement of skipping the entire clay court. Thereafter, he accepted a wild card entry into the main draws of the Madrid Open. Thus fueling the fire about engulfing the wild card entries of almost every major tournament.

Andy Murray Speaks About His Participation in the Madrid Open
The three-time Grand Slam Champion made himself a topic of debate by taking a wild card entry into yet another Masters tournament. Earlier, he tested his luck on the hard courts of the Australian Open and summer doubles by the same means. Therefore, few tennis entities and fans have raised their voice against him for taking the spot repeatedly. To which Andy replied, “More than happy to play qualifying.”
Further, he added, “Will most likely play qualies in Rome. If a tournament invites me to come and play in the main draw, are you suggesting I should turn it down and play quailes?”

Just like Murray, Verdasco himself lost his ranking due to a prolonged leg injury, and now is not even in the top 100.

Therefore, the 38-year-old has to play ATP 500 and even ATP 250 tournaments in order to secure a position in such tournaments. Whereas Murray has been playing all the ATP 1000 tournaments without any trouble since the start of the year.
