Renowned American tennis player shares his insights on Novak Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer
Todd Martin recently discussed the ongoing debate of who is the greatest tennis player of all time (GOAT) between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. As Roger Federer bowed out, Martin expressed his admiration for the achievements of the Big Three, calling their numbers “amazing.” However, he believes that Novak Djokovic has the potential to sustain his excellence in tennis for longer than Nadal. In the interview, he cited the condition of his body and the way he moves on the court. Martin shared, “I don’t care. These are amazing numbers. 20, 22… It’s just unbelievable. The Big Three have done so much.”

He also chimed, “I do think Novak will sustain excellence in tennis longer than Rafa, because of the conditions his body is in, and also the way he moves.” Martin further explained that Djokovic is lighter and gentler on himself physically. He explained how it gives Nole an advantage over Nadal, who moves more heavily with more force. Martin predicts that Djokovic could potentially finish with 27 Grand Slam titles, while Nadal could end up with 26.
He emphasized that the number of titles doesn’t matter as much as their overall achievements in the sport. Martin also believes that Djokovic’s body is better suited to sustain excellence in tennis for a longer period. He shared that it could help the Nole surpass Nadal’s Grand Slam record.
