After an initial round defeat at the Los Cabos Open, Alex de Minaur looks all geared up to make amends at the Mexican Open. Entering the tournament as the third-seeded participant, the Australian tennis star brushed aside the likes of Taro Daniel and
Sebastian Ofner in the opening round matches. In the quarterfinals, De Minaur overcame the fifth-seeded Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in a three-set game, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. Later, the Aussie was awarded a walkover after his British opponent, Jack Draper, picked up an injury in their semifinal encounter.

Casper Ruud, on the other hand, is coming to the tournament after a runner-up finish at the Los Cabos Open. In his initial round matches in Acapulco, the sixth-seeded Norwegian breezed past Christopher Eubanks and Dušan Lajović to reach the quarterfinals. Later, Ruud defeated Ben Shelton before his semifinal victory against the second-seeded Holger Rune in their three-set clash, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
