It has been quite an eventful start to the year for Holger Rune. Impressing one and all last season, the Danish tennis sensation was somehow in the news for all the wrong reasons earlier this year. He split with his coaching staff, comprising of Boris Becker and Severin Luthi. Additionally, his on-court performances were also affected due to this as he had early exits from the tournaments. However, Rune is looking strong in the ongoing tournament in Mexico and takes on Aleksander Kovacevic next.
Rune is playing in the ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco, Mexico. He is the second seed in the tournament and a strong favorite to win the title. Let’s analyze his chances against Kovacevic.

Holger Rune vs Aleksander Kovacevic: Preview
While Alexander Zverev is the top seed in the tournament, Rune is seeded second. In the opening round, he had an easy win against Michael Mmoh of the United States. Rune defeated the qualifier in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. The match lasted just over an hour and a half, with the Danish sensation dominant from start to finish.

On the other hand, Kovacevic had a contrasting win against Jordan Thompson of Australia. The latter, who was in good form, lost out narrowly against the American qualifier, Kovacevic, in three sets 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. Given Kovacevic’s unpredictability, it promises to be an exciting matchup between Rune and him.

Rune vs Kovacevic: Head-to-Head
Kovacevic is on the brink of the top 100 of the ATP rankings and doesn’t often dig deep at big tournaments. Moreover, he turned pro just a few years ago, as a result of which Rune and Kovacevic haven’t faced each other before and their meeting in Acapulco will be their maiden face-off. Despite this, Rune is expected to show his superiority in the first match between the two young stars.

The Danish sensation made an impressive start to his campaign in Mexico, looking his best once again. As a result, Rune is predicted to win his match against Kovacevic in straight sets without breaking any sweat.
