The 25-year-old Tsitsipas is the fifth seed in Acapulco and one of the favorites to clinch the title. Additionally, he made a confident start to his campaign, defeating Roman Safiullin in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Their match lasted under an hour and a half, with Tsitsipas breaking hardly any sweat en route to his victory.

On the contrary, Tsitsipas’ second-round opponent, Cobolli, had to dig deep in his opening-round contest. The Italian star gave it his all and overcame the challenge of Felix Auger-Aliassime in three sets 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. Entering the tournament as a qualifier, Cobolli will aim to be at his best when he faces Tsitsipas next.
