Coming into 2024, Fils started the year in Hong Kong, where he won his first two matches. He followed it with an appearance in the ASB Classics, where he collected three wins. The Australian Open debut went well for Fils, and now he plays Lajović.

Lajović had a different 2023 run than Fils. He played in the main draw of all slams, but couldn’t manage to go farther than round 1 in any. He won an ATP 250, which was the Banja Luka Open in May.
