The latest edition of the ATP Buenos Aires has fans on the edge of their seats as it features some thrilling showdowns. Also known as the Argentina Open, the tournament is a part of the ATP Tour 250 category and takes place on the outdoor clay courts. Now that the quarterfinal rounds have been concluded, the big stage is set up for some high-profile semifinal matches featuring two top-seeded players.
On his home soil, the number-one seed and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz will square off against his third-seeded opponent, Nicolás Jarry, in the semis. Carlos Alcaraz vs. Nicolás Jarry: ATP Buenos Aires semifinals match preview
After a quarterfinal finish at the Australian Open, Carlos Alcaraz has now participated in the Argentina Open. Entering the tournament as the top seed, the 2-time singles Grand Slam champion overcame the Argentine Camilo Ugo Carabelli in his initial-round game. In the quarterfinals, the young Spanish tennis sensation then breezed past his unseeded Italian opponent Andrea Vavassori, in straight sets, 7-6, 6-1.
Nicolás Jarry, on the other hand, is also coming to the tournament after his campaign at the Australian Open. In his first-round match in Buenos Aires, the Chilean tennis star brushed aside the 3-time singles Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka to reach the quarterfinals. Later, Jarry was awarded a walkover after his sixth-seeded opponent, Tomás Martín Etcheverry, picked up an injury in the second set.
Alcaraz vs. Jarry: Head-to-Head
The semifinal match between Alcaraz and Jarry at the ATP Buenos Aires will also mark their third meeting on the men’s circuit. In both their previous meetings at the Wimbledon Championship and the Rio de Janeiro Open, it was the young Spaniard who defeated Jarry and currently has a 2-0 lead in their H2H record.

Prediction: Alcaraz to come out on top in the semifinal match of the Argentina Open
The 20-year-old tennis sensation is a two-time Grand Slam winner and also has a former No. 1 ranking on the men’s tour. Given his vast experience and current rankings, the defending champion Alcaraz is the favorite to not just win this semifinal match but also the championship in Buenos Aires.
