Entering the tournament as the number-one seed, the 3-time ATP singles title champion breezed past his unseeded compatriot Alex Michelsen. With a score of 6-4, 6-3, Tiafoe clinched an initial round win and now has moved to the quarterfinals round.

Marcos Giron, on the other hand, has reached the latter stages of the Dallas Open after securing back-to-back wins in his first two games. The American player, who is an unseeded participant, swept aside his countryman Nicolas Moreno De Alboran in the round of 32. Giron later overcame the sixth-seeded Aussie Max Purcell in another straight-set match, 6-4, 6-3.
