ATP Estoril Open: Hubert Hurkacz vs. Cristian Garín Preview; Head-to-Head, and Prediction

Now that the Estoril Open quarterfinal fixtures have been concluded, the stage is set up for some blockbuster semifinal matches at the sports complex of Clube de Ténis do Estoril in Cascais. The second-seeded player, Hubert Hurkacz, will lock horns with his Chilean opponent, Cristian Garín, for a place in the championship game.

The Estoril Open, part of the men’s circuit 250 series, features some of the top ATP players competing on outdoor clay courts in the Portuguese Riviera. As the likes of Hurkacz and Martínez will now be vying for a triumphant run at the start of the clay season, it will be fascinating to see who emerges victorious in this semifinal.

Entering the Estoril Open as the number two seed, the Polish tennis player started his campaign by outclassing the unseeded Brit, Jan Choinski, in the round of 16. In the quarterfinal game, Hubert Hurkacz recently breezed past his Spanish opponent, Pablo Llamas Ruiz, with a score of  7-6, 6-4, as he secured a place in the semis.

Cristian Garín, on the other hand, is coming to this clay court event as an unseeded participant, and he defeated the Austrian Jurij Rodionov in the opener. The Chilean tennis player then pulled off an upset against the 5th-seeded Frenchman Arthur Fils in the round of 16.  Garín has now reached the semis after his brilliant quarterfinal victory against the Portuguese Nuno Borges, in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6.

The semifinal between Hubert Hurkacz and Cristian Garín at this season’s Estoril Open will also mark their second meeting on the ATP Tour. In their previous encounter at the 2018 Wimbledon Championship, the Chilean player defeated his Polish colleague in the qualifying rounds, and he currently has a 1-0 lead in their H2H record.

While having 7 singles ATP titles in his bag, the Polish player has established himself in the top 10 rankings on the men’s tour.
