A plethora of tennis fans was left disappointed with the recent announcement made by ATP and FIT (Italian Tennis Federation). The tennis Associations have stated that they rescheduled the closing session of the ATP Finals. They further revealed the reason behind the rescheduling by stating that it was done to avoid a clash with the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The soccer World Cup in Qatar was initially scheduled to start in December. However, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) later made an announcement to reschedule one of the fixtures of the event in November.

ATP recently made an announcement regarding the Nitto Finals

The fixture between the host country, Qatar, and Ecuador have rescheduled for 20th November. The final session of the Nitto ATP Finals was also scheduled at the same time as the FIFA World Cup fixture. As a result, the ATP and FIT (Italian Tennis Federation) have taken a decision to reschedule the timings of the Nitto ATP Finals in order to avoid a clash.

A statement on the Nitto ATP Finals official website was released to announce the rescheduling of the championship match which was initially scheduled at 5 pm CET on 20th November. The website stated, “The revised match schedule will see play on Sunday 20th November begin with the doubles final at 4pm CET, followed by the singles final not before 7pm CET (previously scheduled at 5pm CET).”

The website further stated that rescheduling of Nitto ATP Finals will avoid a direct clash with the opening game of the upcoming soccer World Cup in Qatar. Many fans won’t have to face the dilemma to choose between two of the most anticipated fixtures. It will also increase the global reach of the intriguing final session of the Nitto ATP Finals. The website also stated that the other prior schedules of the ATP tournament remain unaffected.

Who is participating in the tournament in Turin?

Many tennis fans are intrigued as some of the most promising tennis fans will compete on the indoor hard courts at Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, Italy. The Spaniard, Rafael Nadal, was the first player to qualify for the ATP tournament in Turin. He was later joined by his compatriot and the US Open winner, Carlos Alcaraz.

The Greek tennis star, Stefanos Tsitsipas has also booked his place in the singles championship in Italy. The Serbian tennis player, Novak Djokovic, who recently added another feather to his cap by winning the Astana Open in Kazakhstan, has also booked his place in Nitto ATP Finals. The Norwegian tennis player and the US Open finalist, Casper Ruud is also among the player to compete in the tournament.
